Meet Roe
Spiritual Director & Soul Care Specialist
Roe Dodgen has been a practicing Spiritual Director since 2005, helping individuals and leaders deepen their spiritual lives and find freedom from past wounds. With over 30 years of experience in church and non-profit ministries, as well as higher education, Roe offers compassionate guidance and expertise for personal and spiritual growth.

Roe provides individualized support for navigating life’s spiritual and emotional challenges. Whether in-person or on Zoom, she meets with clients across the globe, guiding them through contemplative practices, healing from trauma, and developing a deeper connection to their faith.“Every person’s story is sacred. Specialized Retreats and Trauma Healing
Drawing from her certifications in Narrative-Focused Trauma (Levels 1-3) through the Allender Center, Roe leads trauma-focused retreats that integrate art therapy and spiritual direction. Her expertise includes working with attachment disorders, shame, identity struggles, faith crises, and deconstruction.
A Unique Background
Roe earned her M.A. in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care from Talbot Theological Seminary, where she also served as Adjunct Faculty. She has led retreats, individual sessions, and group spiritual direction for pastoral students, NGO leaders, and ministry professionals. Additional training in art therapy and PTSD has equipped her to walk clients through unhealed stories of trauma, helping them experience restoration and spiritual growth.

the lion story
Early in his career, Jim had an extraordinary role as a lion trainer. One of the lions, Zaki, was a young female African lion who, despite her 200-pound size, often behaved like a typical house cat. However, there was always the possibility of her acting on her natural instincts—something Jim has many stories about!
Zaki was one of three African lions Jim’s family raised from cubs. His father built the Born Free Motorcoach, and the lions became company mascots during a time when having exotic pets was legal for private citizens. Jim and his sister spent a year traveling across the country, showcasing Zaki at RV shows and Born Free dealers, making every day feel like a safari adventure.
For the animal lovers, rest assured that Zaki had a wonderful life. Jim took her out for daily runs and they even enjoyed “wrestling” together. It was an unforgettable experience and a unique chapter in Jim's life, showcasing his adventurous spirit and connection with animals. So, yes—Jim is a real-life lion trainer!
